Creel logs every catch in your camera roll with the lake, the hour, the water temperature, and the pressure, then lays the good days side by side. No account. Your spots and your catches are never shared. On the water, update your logbook by simply taking a photo. You probably do already.

Preface

We built Creel after too many trips to the same water, same week, same spot, same baits, coming home empty from what a year earlier had been the best day of the season. We wanted to know why. All we had was a camera roll and a fuzzy memory.

Other fishing apps could show a forecast, not why a day worked. Creel models your lake's water temperature day by day, reads every catch against its conditions, and suggests where to start and what to try. When time is short and conditions won't cooperate, it points you to the best hours and the best place to start: when, where and how you fish, backed by your own numbers.

Most fishing apps are built around sharing. But a spot shared is a spot fished out, and your log isn't something to sell to whoever pays for it. Creel keeps everything on your phone and never asks you to post a thing. That won't change.

Every photo carries its location, so Creel reads that first and keeps only the ones taken inside the water you fish. The rest of your camera roll is never opened. What is left is read by a model that runs on your phone, trained for one task: find the fish, name the species. No photo of yours is sent away to be looked at.

Seconds from fish to log

Press the Action Button, or tap Creel from the Lock Screen or Control Center. The photo is taken and logged with the weather, pressure, wind, water and air temperature filled in. Or tell Siri you caught one. Nothing to type on the boat, nothing forgotten by the time you are home.

On an iPhone Pro the shot carries its own depth data, and Creel reads the length from it. No board, no ruler, nothing to set up before the fish goes back.²³

Water

Plan the season around the water, not the calendar³

Air temperature is easy to look up, but fish live in the water, and water warms and cools on its own schedule. Creel models the water temperature of any lake, day by day, from its local air record, on your phone. You see which way your water is trending, and where it sits against your species' feeding band, before you set foot on the boat. Across a year that becomes your lake's season: when the water reaches the band, how long it holds, and when it leaves.

One bite score for right now³

The score runs from 0 to 100. It reads the conditions; it doesn't predict a catch. Creel scores 41 freshwater species, each against its own preferences. The most each condition can move the score for striped bass:

• Water temperature: full marks in the species' feeding band, tapering toward its edges
• Time of day: peaks at sunrise and sunset, lowest 10 am–4 pm
• Wind: best at a light 3–9 mph
• Cloud: best near 75% cover

Moon phase and pressure barely count, on purpose: solunar tables failed to predict catches in a 2023 study, and a few feet of depth changes the pressure on a fish more than a weather front does.

For coldwater fish like stripers and trout, warm summer water lowers the score. After ten catches logged with weather, each condition bends toward the conditions your fish came in. The weights stay fixed.

Built for anglers who don't want to share their secrets.

Your log is yours. It lives on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and nowhere else.

• No account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign into.
• No Creel server. Your catches never pass through one.
• Your photos stay on your phone. The model that finds the fish runs there.
